Happy Valentine's Day!

The Strawberry Napoleon I made for Will. Brinley's Valentines outfit. These are the treats that Brinley and I made for her friends. Happy Valentine's Day from the Russ family. Since we are going to Mexico next week we decided that we would keep it low key today. Will and I met for lunch at Souper Salads while Brin was at school and Maria was with the boys. I made tomato basil soup for dinner and I was rather surprised that it turned out so good. As you can see for dessert I made Strawberry Napoleon. The other day I was watching Martha Stewart of course and they made Rasberry Napoleon with custard. Not being a huge custard and rasberry fan I thought I would change it up a bit. Chocolate and Strawberries are a valentines staple so I substituted what I didn't like for things I love and it was wonderful. The recipe made three and there are no left overs. Valentine's day is such a fun holiday. Brinley loved showing her classmates that she cared about them. Making cupcakes with her was so much fun. She helped mommy stir the mix and then topped them off with sprinkles. Cupcakes are my favorite dessert and I think my daughter is developing the same love. We have been talking about her birthday lately due to the multiple parties we've been to in the last couple of weeks, and last week she told me that she wanted pink icing at her birthday. I don't know if she wants cupcakes with pink icing or just pink icing. You would never guess that for the past 2 years she didn't like to eat dessert. Those days are gone. Bring on the sweets.
