A year ago today...
A year ago today I:
Woke up at 4:15 and got ready to go to the hospital. Arrived at the hospital by 5:30 and sat in a very cold hospital room and thought about what was about to happen to me and my family. The Russ family was going from a family of three to a family of five in a matter of minutes. I waited and waited and finally 7:30 came around and I went back to the surgery room where I received my spinal tap( which I do not recommend those). I watched them clean my belly and I will never forget how mad that made these boys. My belly looked like aliens where about to come out. I had never in my nine months of carrying twins seen my belly move like that. The surgery started and at 8:11 and 8:13 I became the mother of two sweet little boys. I would post some pictures of that day but apparently blogger is not working so oh well.
Today I:
I woke up at 6:50 and went out to the living room and saw two little boys sitting in their dads lap drinking their milk. We started our day with cupcakes and waffles and then took a little cat nap so we could head to the spray ground at Celebration park in Allen. Logan loved the water and Austin remained in Will's arms the entire time. We then went to lunch at Chick-fil-A and I must brag on the Chick-Fil-A in Allen the staff there was so helpful and kind. Taking three children to a fast food place is not an easy task when the adults are out numbered by children. I know all Chick-Fil-A's are great but this one just seems to go above and beyond what is expected of them. We came home after that and took a nice long nap and will just enjoy the rest of this day as a family. I think back to those first days of having both the boys home and I will admit there were days I didn't think I could make it. I kept telling myself that the Lord does just give twins to anyone. He gave them to me and for whatever reason He knew I could do it. I could not imagine life without these precious little boys. Logan and Austin add so much to our family dynamic. I love that they know who Will is and say "dada" all day long. Every once in a while I get "mama" but Will seems to be the favorite these days. They are full of smiles and love their big sister. Brinley has done such a good job this past year. She has been such a good encourager to her brothers. I love that she tells them "Good job bwother" when ever Logan takes his steps or Austin stands with out holding on to anything. I love that she has brothers to grow up with and to learn how to do life with. Will and I are blown away by the Lord's ability to see the bigger picture and the promise that he will never give us more than we can handle. We survived the first year and look forward to many more years with the sweet little boys.
